Thinking about respiration & looking at plants

Happy Friday! Today we will continue to work on observation skills and discuss techniques to use when reading a text book.

Objectives:

  • Closely observe the development of a plant. How closely can your sketch represent the actual item?
  • Preview respiratory system.
Language objectives:
  • Reading for understanding

Opening: Avocado Plant observation - it has been one month. How does your prediction match the actual growth of the avocado? Make a new sketch.

Respiration

We did the pre-reading step in class. What do you already know about the respiratory system and cellular respiration? As you read, please fill in the rest. Technique: close your book before you write to see if you retain the information.

Outside Plant observation - each person chose a plant that will be observed throughout the year.
